Not only was Jill Scott was the recipient of the prestigious “Lady of Soul” Award at the 2015 Soul Train Awards, she also won the award for Best R&B/Soul Female Artist.
“Why does it matter what look like, as long as I tell my story and you laugh with it and you live with it,” she said during her acceptance speech for the “Lady of Soul” Award.
After the award, she performed her own tribute performance, singing a medley of her “Back Together”, “Whatever,” “Cross My Mind,” “A Long Walk,” and “It’s Crazy.”
Scott is currently riding off the success of her latest chart-topping album Woman which dropped in July.
