During her opening monologue as host of the 2015 Soul Train Awards, Erykah Badu made a few jaws drop when she threw playful shade at the rap community in the name of keeping true to Soul Train’s soul roots.
In the funny opener, Badu explained she banned all rap from this year’s awards, noting nothing will be “on fleek,” and “only three tattoos per arm.” She then answered the incoming calls of a few rappers (not really.) Badu then playfully bashes Young Thug and wait for it…Iggy Azalea.
Badu answers her cell, with an imaginary Iggy on the other end. “Uh yes? Who is this? Iggy Azalea? Yeah, hey,” she said. “Oh, no, no, no, no, you can come. ‘Cause what you doin’ is definitely not rap.”
Oooh, got 'em! The faces of the audience and the reactions on Twitter are hilarious!
