R&B singer Jesse Graham, 50, is trying to come for Taylor Swifts coins with a $42 million lawsuit claiming she used his lyrics from his song “Haters Gon’ Hate” to use in her 2014 hit “Shake It Off.”
The unknown R&B artist wrote his song in 2013, and features the lyrics: “Haters gonna hate / Players gonna play / Watch out for them fakers / They’ll fake you every day.”
Swift’s chorus goes, “’Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play / And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.” Similar, but not quite.
Graham told The Daily News, “Her hook is the same hook as mine. If I didn’t write the song ‘Haters Gone Hate,’ there wouldn’t be a song called ‘Shake It Off.’”
Uumm, no. Graham fails to remember a little song called "Playas Gon Play" by teen trio 3LW from 2000. It’s a popular phrase stemming back from, well, decades ago!
And it doesn’t end there. According to The Daily News, Graham is also suing CNN for the use of the title "New Day" for their morning show because it coincides with this church organization called New Day Worldwide.
Nice try, bruh.
