Nicki Minaj’s star just got a little brighter…
ABC Family has just announced they will be the network home of a sitcom based off of the singer’s life, in which Minaj will appear, and executive produce the show.
“BREAKING NEWS! @NickiMinaj is executive producing & appearing in a new @ABCFamily comedy based on her life!” the network’s Twitter account writes.
The show will focus in Nicki’s childhood growing up in Queens, New York with her vivacious Caribbean immigrant family and her superstar aspirations when she attended the famous performing arts LaGuardia High School. A pilot episode will be filmed this winter.
“Nicki Minaj is a force to be reckoned with at everything she touches,” said ABC Family’s EVP Programming and Development Karey Burke. “Nicki is an international superstar, yet not everyone knows how inspiring and hilarious her true story is, and we can’t wait to share it with the world.”
Nicki adds, “This is one of the more unique adventures I’ve ever embarked on. I couldn’t be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special.”
Along with her sitcom, Minaj will also get her own video game in conjunction with game developer Glu, the company responsible for the Kim Kardashian: Hollywood game which raked in $74 million in 2014.
