It’s official: the role of the good witches of the North and South in NBC’s The Wiz Live! are finally filled!
Orange is the New Black star Uzo Aduba and former Glee star Amber Riley have filled the two roles that sparked weeks of speculation: Aduba will play Glinda the Good Witch of the South and Riley will play her sister Addaperle, the Good Witch of the North.
Aduba tweeted, “I’m beyond grateful and excited to join this incredible company of artists as Glinda, The Good Witch in #TheWizLive and to tell this story!” Aduba wrote on Twitter.
Aduba and Riley join newcomer Shanice Williams (as Dorothy), Mary J Blige (as Evillene, the Wicked Witch of the West), Queen Latifah (as the Wiz), and David Alan Grier (as the Cowardly Lion). However, part of the tin man and scarecrow are either still up for grabs or haven’t been announced.
