Kelly Rowland is the latest music superstar added to the upcoming second season of FOX's hit series, 'Empire.'
A source tells E! that the 34-year-old R&B singer will play Lucious Lyon's mother in a flashback.
Speculations launched last month about Rowland's appearance on the show after she shared the above photo with the Empire screenwriters.
'Empire' season 2 will debut on Sept. 23.
Grammy-winning artist Ne-Yo will also play a big role in the upcoming season.
"I?'m a big fan of Empire and I?m gonna get the privilege to be a part of the Empire family: they?'re writing me into the script as a character,? not as myself, which is kind of cool. I?'m digging that," Ne-Yo told Buzzfeed. "Also I?m doing a lot of the music for the second season, so that?s special."
Alicia Keys, Chris Rock, and Lenny Kravitz are a few other stars making appearances this season.
