"Why would God be on money if it was evil?"
Out the gate, Bilal takes us on a thought-provoking ride in the music video for his single, "Money Over Love," featuring rapper Kendrick Lamar. In the Hans Elder directed-clip, a couple goes through hard times, but instead of finding other routes to make money, the man lets his woman becoming a prostitute to make ends me. In the end, he could no longer endure the pain, so he takes his own life. This is definitely a heart-wrenching video that should touch the soul of every viewer.
"Where some may listen to it and think I’m saying money is more important than love, the video depicts a love story that is tainted by greed," he told The FADER. "Whether its justified or not, is for the people to decide."
Produced by Adrian Younge, "Money Over Love" appears on Bilal's new album, In Another Life, which arrived in stores this week.
If you enjoyed the thrill then you must cop the album!
