On Tuesday night, actor/singer/songwriter, Evan Ross, held his first official showcase at the famous Los Angeles venue, The Sayer's Club in Los Angeles, CA. The intimate event was hosted by close friend and "ATL" co-star, T.I., who, joined by his wife, Tiny, charismatically introduced Ross to the crowd. Sayers was filled to capacity with a combination of Evan's family, close friends, tastemakers and press, who all came out to check out the rising star's performance. Evan's mother, the legendary Diana Ross, sisters, Tracee Ellis Ross & Chudney Ross, wife Ashlee Simpson, who was joined by sister, Jessica Simpson, and friends Jermaine Dupri and Dallas Austin were all in attendance to support the budding star.
Once the lights dimmed in the venue, and the show started, Evan captivated us with his performance from beginning to end, while his family cheered on from the front row. He performed his new single "How to Live Alone," in addition to a catchy, stand out unreleased song called "Unobtainable," and a track called "Higher"; however, one of the highlights of his performance was a smooth cover of Diana Ross' "Love Hangover," which he executed flawlessly…right before Ms. Ross requested that he perform "How to Live Alone" again. It was hard not to smile at the excitement that was radiating from Evan's friends and family during his performance.
Evan definitely has a bright musical future ahead of him. He has a smooth, raspy, distinctive voice, music that doesn't sound like anyone else out right now, and a good support team behind him. I would say, he made his legendary mother very proud. We look forward to seeing what he brings to the table in the near future.
