Newcomer Grace may be from Australia, but she has that brawny voice that reminds us of the late Amy Winehouse.
The singer-songwriter's debut single is a soulful and rousing makeover of Lesley Gore's 1963 pop hit, "You Don't Own Me." Accompanied by the Taylor Cohen-directed music video, featuring rapper G-Eazy, Grace makes her intro to the world by going for the simple studio vibe instead of sexy clothing and special effects (her sex appeal is still on ten). The clip places the spotlight on her vocals as she sings into a microphone for most of the three minutes.
"You Don't Own Me" is taken from Grace's debut EP, Memo, released last month via Regime Music Societe/RCA.
She will have the world in her Grace!
