Jason Derulo drops off another gem from his forthcoming album Everything Is 4 entitled "Cheyenne." On the follow-up to smash single "Want To Want Me" and "Get Ugly," the pop/soul superstar reminisce over a past relationship, singing, "I never meant to fall in love." The funky, '80s disco-inspired song is relatable to Derulo's personal relationship; he split from R&B singer Jordin Sparks late last year. Although the tune carries a melancholy vibe, he delivers a passionate and nostalgic tale about heartbreak.
"I'm somebody who cannot keep those two things separate. Like, I have to put it on paper, put it on wax, put it in my songs. I cannot separate the two. My creativity, my personality won't allow me to separate the two. If that's what's going on in my life, that's in the songs I make as well. It's definitely a piece of that," Derulo told Billboard about his breakup.
Derulo's upcoming album, Everything Is 4, is due out on June 2.
