After releasing the tender duet “It’s There” ft. Brian McKnight, Connecticut-bred singer/songwriter Arika Kane has finally dropped the compilation it’s attached to, her third album titled Thru The Veil.
The set (which follows her follows her 2012 LP Substance) features 13 tracks, full of Kane’s chipper soprano and poppy-soul tunes about classic R&B themes. There are some great grooves, such as “Can’t Get Enough,” “Here We Are Now” and “Honor My Love.” She then steps up the funk on tunes like “What It Feels Like” and “Get To Know You,” which is a fun track reminiscent of an SOS Band groove.
Femcee Jean Grae and Brand Nubian member Grand Puba join Brian McKnight as feature guest artists.
Kane's debut self-titled album Arika Kane (2010) featured the single “Here With Me,” recognizable by the song’s feature on the first season of VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop,” and “Make It” as the theme song for “Hollywood Exes” among placements on many other reality TV shows.
