Adrian Marcel
You've already worked with greats such as Kelly Rowland, E-4 Snoop, your mentor Raphael etc…Who’s going to be on the album?
Adrian Marcel is going to definitely be on the album. Jane Hancock is probably going to be on the album, for sure. It's a whole bunch of surprises you know, you just got to kind of just be ready, just rock with me; I promise whoever’s on there, it's going to be bumping.
What do you feel separates you from other young, up and coming male R&B artists today?
Honestly, I don't know what separates me, I don't try to focus too much on being different, I just focus on being myself. I can tell you what's going to keep me, and that's my humility for the love of my job and what I do and for my passion for music. It's something that Rae has always told me, "Never love yourself and just love the music," and I think that's one thing that may sustain me.
Who were your early musical influences?
I go back, so we talking about some Al Green, we got some Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Bill Withers, Jackie Wilson, some Frankie Lymon, Donnie Hathaway, I mean the list goes on; I'm very old school. If I had to say someone recent then it would be Maxwell.
What was the inspiration behind "The Weak After Next" EP vs "7 Days of Weak"?
7 days of Weak was kind of like a storyboard, like "here's the points we're going to be touching on" and Weak After Next was actually finally opening up and reading chapter 1.
What do these projects mean to you?
It's everything; it's my diary to be honest with you. I'm giving you guys my soul, I'm giving you guys my heart, you know, and a lot of it is not mine to give, but I'm giving it anyway.
