The controversial Lifetime movie, “Aaliyah: Princess of R&B,” finally has an official air date!
Today (Sept. 18) on the Wendy Williams show, the outspoken host revealed the film will air on Saturday, November 15! William’s production company, Wendy Williams Productions, is responsible for executive producing the project.
As said previously on her show, Wendy declared, “I’ve been rallying around about this Lifetime movie about Aaliyah. Telling the family stop complaining, it’s going to be on the small screen, small screen is the business…When watching a movie like the Aaliyah movie, I really don’t want to know who the actress is playing it, I just want to watch it.”
Alexandra Shipp (pictured above) will portray the late Aaliyah, and Elise Neal will play Gladys Knight. Other actors include Jackie Long (ATL) as R Kelly, Charles Dutton (Roc) as Barry Hankerson, Eugene Byrd (True Blood, Bones) as Jay Z, and Jermaine Crawford (The Wire) as Dame Dash.
After all the hullabaloo, who’ll be watching?
