Last night (Sept. 15), while performing at Irving Plaza in NYC, August Alsina passed out on stage during a performance of “Numb” to the horror of on-looking fans.
Close to the edge of the stage, August simply fell to the floor in front of the audience. His bodyguards then came to his aid and swooped him away as he lay limp, still unconscious. While there’s no word on his condition, but a witnesses says he waved backstage as he was taken away on a stretcher to the nearest hospital.
A fan states she heard the singer say he hadn’t eaten that day, hence causing the collapse. Ever since his debut album Testimony dropped in April, it’s been a whirlwind of performances, tours and press for 22-year-old New Orleans artist, his grueling schedule probably causing lack of rest and proper nutrition. The scary scene prompted the trending topic #PrayForAugust on Twitter.
August is scheduled to perform in Cincinnati tonight (Sept. 16) at Bogarts on his Testimony Live tour, but no word on post-ponings or cancellations.
