It was a big night for popular music last night (Aug. 24) at the 2014 VMA’s…more specifically, R&B had a great night in most categories!
Drake won in the Hip Hop category for “Hold On (We’re Going Home),” newcomer Ed Sheeran won for his Pharrell-assisted single “Sing,” and (interestingly enough), Lorde’s “Royals” won in the Best Rock Video category. Along with proving why she’s queen with a stellar performance, Beyonce took home four awards: Best Collaboration (“Drunk In Love” ft. Jay Z), Best Video With a Social Message (“Pretty Hurts”), Best Cinematography (“Pretty Hurts”), and the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award, where Jay Z and daughter Blue joined her on stage. Jay called her the “greatest living entertainer” while Bey tearfully accepted the high honor.
