The latest edition of the Singersroom sponsored Sol Village, New York City's longest-running monthly R&B/Soul showcase, went down last night (April 16) at SOBs. This month's showcase featured soulful performances by rising talents J'Sun, Kissie Lee, and Gaetano, with a featured performance from Calvin Richardson.
Earlier this year, Eric Benet announced the signing of Soul veteran Calvin Richardson to his Jordan House label. Between that time and the present, the two have been hard at work on Calvin's next studio album, and last night, fans got a first taste of their labor. Joined by Benet on stage, who introduced him and also sang back-up, Calvin blessed fans with a fitting performance of “We Gon' Love Tonite,” which will arrive on iTunes on April 29th.
Along with Calvin, indie singers J'Sun, Kissie Lee, and Gaetano also delivered a filling treat. Gaetano steamed up his set with a seductive performance that left a fan blushing, Atlanta-based songstress Kissie Lee introduced New Yorkers to her raging voice and sexiness while former The Voice contestant J'Sun showed off his ear-blowing and diverse vocal range.
Hosted by Eric Roberson, who also performs various freestyle sets, Sol Village is an ongoing commitment to offering a platform for some of the most promising up & coming talent in R&B.
