Although Frank Ocean uploaded the below check to his Tumblr account, it wasn’t the check he sent to bosses at Chipotle to settle a lawsuit.
As previously reported, the company hired Ocean for $425,000 to record a cover version of "Pure Imagination" from the 1971 movie Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory for an animated TV commercial & campaign dubbed "Scarecrow". The "Novacane" singer was advanced $212,500, but later backed out of the deal to sing the theme song, prompting Chipotle to sue for the return of their advance plus damages.
Ocean sent a check to the popular Mexican chain restaurant, but contrary to what the gossip world fed on, he did not send an expletive message along with the check.
“We received a check, yes (and have dropped the suit)," Chris Arnold, Communications Director for Chipotle, tells E! News. "It, however, did not say 'f–k off' on the memo line as it did in the photos he posted.”
Arnold added, “Nice stunt, though, Frank.”
