Whitney Houston's mentor Clive Davis revealed over the Grammy Awards weekend that a live album of the late diva will be released this year. "I really want everyone to know … exactly why during her time she was considered the greatest contemporary singer in the world," Davis told the LA Times.

Houston passed away two years ago during the Grammy Award show weekend. A posthumous greatest hit album was released featuring eighteen songs from her music catalog in the wake of her death.

Davis is reviewing numerous recordings of Houston's performances in an effort to compile the live album.

No date has been set for the project's release, but it is expected to drop this year.

You may not know who Clive Davis is, but you definitely know the artists he’s worked with. From Whitney Houston to Alicia Keys, Davis has been responsible for some of the biggest names in music over the past few decades.

And it was his vision that brought us Whitney Houston’s live album. It all started after a concert in 1983. You see, Davis had just witnessed something truly special – Houston’s incredible voice and stage presence left him awestruck.

He knew that this was something that needed to be captured on record, so he immediately got to work on creating a live album that would showcase her talents like never before. And thus began the process of putting together what would become ‘Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Performances.’

The Concert That Inspired Clive Davis

You won’t believe what concert inspired Clive Davis to start the process for Whitney Houston’s live album! It was a performance by Aretha Franklin at Radio City Music Hall in 1983. According to Davis, he was blown away by her powerful vocals and stage presence. He knew then and there that he wanted to capture that same energy on a live album for Whitney Houston.

Davis immediately began searching for the perfect venue for Houston’s live recording, eventually settling on the historic New York club, The Bottom Line. The concert took place on August 1st, 1985 and featured an electrifying performance by Houston, backed up by some of the best musicians in the business.

The resulting album, simply titled ‘Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Performances,’ is now considered one of her most iconic releases. Thanks to Clive Davis’ inspired decision to capture Whitney Houston’s live performances on record, fans can still experience the magic of her concerts today.

From her soulful renditions of classic ballads like ‘I Will Always Love You’ to high-energy dance tracks like ‘How Will I Know,’ this album showcases just why Whitney remains one of the greatest voices in music history.

The Making of ‘Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Performances

Take a listen to the incredible compilation of Whitney Houston’s greatest live performances, showcasing her unparalleled talent and captivating stage presence.

This album, titled ‘Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Performances’, was put together by none other than Clive Davis himself. As the man who discovered Whitney and helped launch her career, Davis knew exactly how to create an album that truly honored her legacy.

The making of this live album was no small feat – it took meticulous planning and curation to bring together the best of Whitney’s live performances.

Davis combed through countless recordings and selected only the most iconic moments from Whitney’s concerts around the world. He wanted listeners to experience what it was like to be in the audience during one of Whitney’s shows – to feel the energy and emotion she brought with every note she sang.

The end result is a stunning tribute to one of music’s greatest voices. From her powerful rendition of ‘I Will Always Love You’at The 36th Annual Grammy Awards, to a soulful cover of Sam Cooke’s ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’at Mandela Day 2009, every track on this album is a testament to Whitney’s incomparable talent as a performer.

Thanks to Clive Davis’ vision and dedication, we now have a timeless collection that will continue to inspire fans for generations to come.
