The-Dream took to Instagram today (Jan. 8) to announce that he will be leaving Def Jam Recordings. The singer/songwriter did so by posting a picture of the label's logo with the caption: "I will miss this logo. It all started here! Love Everything that I achieved there, EXODUS THE-DREAM #exodusthedream."
His last studio effort with the label is, IV play, which was released on May 28th of last year and featured guest appearances from Jay-Z, Big Sean, Pusha T, Beyoncé, 2 Chainz, Kelly Rowland, Gary Clark Jr. and Fabolous.
Any speculation that the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter was dropped was quickly squashed after he commented on the same post: "Dropped ha! Modern day Smoky Robinson."
We'll be sure to keep up to date on The Dream's independent endeavors.
In addition to The-Dream being an artist on Def Jam, he was also executive Vice President of A&R. No word on whether he will keep his post!
