Grammy Award winning recording artists Kelly Clarkson and Michael Buble have been tapped by NBC to star in a pair of upcoming hour-long holiday specials.
Slated to air Wednesday, December 11 at 10 p.m., the Kelly Clarkson special will be based loosely on Charles Dickens' classic novel "A Christmas Carol." During the course of the yet untitled special, Clarkson's character will learn about the true meaning of Christmas.
For his annual holiday special, due to air Wednesday, December 18 at 10 p.m., Buble will deliver some of his most popular songs in an intimate setting and invite some of his favorite guest performers as well.
"These two immensely talented Grammy Award-winning artists will be the perfect addition to the holiday season," Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC Entertainment said in a statement. "We are looking forward to bringing their signature sounds into America's homes."
Clarkson, who rose to fame in 2002 as champion of the first season of "American Idol," has sold more than 20 million albums over the course of her career. She has 11 No. 1 singles worldwide on the Billboard charts and will release her sixth studio album, "Wrapped in Red" (RCA Records) on Oct. 25.
The Canadian-born Buble has had a handful of best-selling albums, including "It's Time," "Call Me Irresponsible" and his most recent, "To Be Loved."
