It is already proven that reality television jump starts careers. K. Michelle and Tamar Braxton's successful album sales can easily be attributed to the attention each generated on their shows. R&B Divas: LA cast member Claudette Ortiz is following the same format as the ladies in hopes to revive the fan base that bought her City High album and attract new loyalist.
A leak that surfaced this week on Singersroom is Ortiz's "Reciprocation." On the mid-tempo track, she proves her vocal chords are intact as she sings about her love being treated as a one way street rather than a two way. Though she plans to touch on a variety of topics on her upcoming project, she found a sweet spot with fans singing about the confusion of handcuffing season.
Singersroom was a step ahead of K'Jon blasting his new single "A Man" across the cyber world. He resisted the electro-R&B instrumentation for a doo-wop flavored song about ten values of a man. K'Jon's decision to go left paid off placing him second on Singersroom's Indie Rotation. The “On the Ocean” singer is prepping the release of a double disc album entitled 'Man', tentatively scheduled for November 3.
One of the new U.K. talents people are gushing over is Elli Ingram. She became the it girl after dropping a cover of Kendrick Lamar's "Poetic Justice," her new follow-up "Canna Butter Kisses" is a mash-up of Chance The Rapper’s “Cocoa Butter Kisses” and T-Pain’s “I’m Hi” for what she calls “Canna Butter Kisses.”
Along with the artists above, Candice Nicole, Lil Mo, Adina Howard, Orlando Dixon, Marcus Cooper, Demetria McKinney and Shaliek landed on Singersroom's top independent singles on the week.
