Jennifer Lopez may be out lobbying Congress for her new Chief Creative Officer position at NUVOtv, an English-language Latino network, but her upcoming album, the follow up to 2011’s ‘Love?’, is still a priority. The forthcoming effort is led by the single “Live It Up,” which is currently doing well on the charts.
“I haven't gotten the album done…For me, until they tell me I have to turn it in, I keep going until the last minute, I keep creating, I keep trying new songs, new things, tweaking the ones that I love…,” Lopez told Hot 99.5 host Toby Knapp.
As far as the direction of the project, J.Lo says “It’s gonna be a different sound, I think a lot has happened to me in the past year or two, I’ve changed a little bit, my ideas about love has changed…you grow…”
She also says her “tough” divorce from Marc Anthony was one of her big changes.
Currently Chris Brown and RedOne is said to be contributors on the album, but J.Lo’s idol Mary J. Blige may also appear for a duet.
“I just had a big dream come through when I performed at Chime for Change with Mary J., I’ve always kind of wanted to work with her, says J.Lo, adding, “We’re thinking about it, I’m going to do something on her Christmas album…I told her about this song on my album, and she’s like ‘send it to me, I know it’s gonna be amazing’.”
Along with the pending album, it looks like Lopez will be heading back to the big screen soon. During the interview, she received a phone call that turned out to be a confirmation for a part in a “small film.”
Tight lipped on what the film is about, J.Lo says, "It's a small movie, but it's a great role and a lot of people wanted it. It's exciting.”
Lopez also opened up about taking risk insisting, “speaking of Idol and things like that, it was a big move to do Idol, it was a big move to move away from Idol. I went on tour, that was a big decision…when you make these decisions in life, you take these risk, and everybody is looking at you like what are you doing, stay safe, and your like 'it doesn't feel right, I don't want to be safe, I wanna go and try more and do more.' When something like that happens, it's like an affirmation. It’s OK to take risk.”
