"Perfectly Imperfect" singer and Grammy nominee Elle Varner completely agrees with Grammy organizers who sent out a memo last week, asking that attendees dress appropriately and essentially cover up for this year's show.
Calling the Grammy Awards a classy event, Varner believes that is how women and men should dress — classy.
"I can understand a little bit because there's just… there's been some crazy things that I think lately people are more and more just taking off the clothes. And it's a beautiful night. It's a classy night for music. I think that's how people should dress," Varner shared during an interview Saturday.
As widely reported, the memo was pretty much directed to female recording artists, asking them to stay away from outfits that might reveal too much skin. That includes sheer garments and cut outs that we've seen over the years… along with an occasional "nip slip."
That said, Elle Varner is keeping it classy.
"I say it's like Chanel meets Elle. It's very classy… it's classic but it still has that flair of funkiness that is me," says Varner.
In related and exciting news, Elle Varner is working hard on a follow up to her Grammy nominated debut "Perfectly Imperfect."
Inspired by the fact that her music has inspired major names like Stevie Wonder and First Lady Michelle Obama, Varner says the sophomore album will be a lot different due to how her life has changed since "Perfectly Imperfect."
"What's up next for me is my second album, that I'm working on currently. I'm excited to tell my story of where I'm at. Since "Perfectly Imperfect" was my coming of age, it was going through college, the motions. Now it's like I have this whole new life. I'm an up and coming artist. I have Stevie Wonder and Michelle Obama, like everything has changed. I really want to reflect on where I'm at now as a woman, as an artist, and just keep it coming," Varner shares.
