Kevin Michael’s new project, Brainwa$h, is in the works, and this time a round he has a lot to divulge to his fans. The set is the follow up to his last free project, LISA, but for the upcoming effort, he’s leading an entirely new direction of lyrics, music and concepts. Writing on his Tumblr, Michael plans to take listeners through a state of mental cleansing, empowering them to tap into self for true living.
Freedom. It’s the thing I’ve been fighting for my entire life. Funny thing is, freedom isn’t something you have to fight for. It’s as intrinsic as the air you breathe or the Earth underneath your feet, and it belongs to us all. The thing worth fighting for now is truth. My truth. Your truth. For only in truth will you find the sweet satisfaction of life. Within it lies peace, happiness, purpose & fulfillment. Truth is the key to everything. I speak of these things because for the first time in my life, I have no desire to be anything but my true self. I’m unlocked. My hope is that you will join me, and do the same for yourselves.
I’d been brainwashed. Programmed from birth to believe I was a body with limited access to my soul. Taught to fear the God(dess) that “created” me because I was separate & inferior to “His/Her” light. Made to identify with certain ethnic/social groups, encouraged to disengage from critical thinking and coerced into being “normal”. Worst of all, I was led into a false sense of self by giving rise to my ego. We’ve all been brainwashed to a certain degree. Whether you want to believe it or not is completely up to you.
With that being said, it’s not all doom & gloom friends. The weapon formed against us can also be our greatest catalyst to authentic empowerment. Instead of being brainwashed, I invite you to wash your brain. Free yourself from all the things that are holding you back. This will involve confronting your past, your memories, your friends & family, yourself. This will not be easy, but it will be worth it if you are ready. I challenge you because I know you’re capable of being great, even if you don’t feel that way now. Reboot, refresh, restart.
Over the past 9 months I myself have purged. It is with much pleasure that I present to you my very own “Brainwa$h”, in the form of a multimedia mix tape. In the coming weeks I will release a series of audiovisual works that are some of my most personal recordings to date. Every creation included on “Brainwa$h” in some way reflects me & my personal life, directly or indirectly. I share these thoughts with you because I know I am not alone in thinking them. Together, we will heal. As a birthday present to myself, and to you, the first single from “Brainwa$h” will be available for stream 12AM EST: October 22, 2012.
