Since memoirs are notorious for the bones of one’s life falling out the closet, Wyclef Jean may have a juicy page-turner on his hands. The former Fugees member (along with Lauryn Hill and rapper Pras) is set to release his memoir Purpose: An Immigrant’s Story. The book will tell revealing stories from his life and career, with one story that may surprise Fugee fans; it focuses on his affair with fellow group member Lauryn Hill.

The NY Post reports that in the book, Wyclef says Lauryn tricked him into believing he fathered her first-born son, whose actual father is Rohan Marley, son of Bob Marley. “In that moment something died between us,” Jean writes. “I was married and Lauryn and I were having an affair, but she led me to believe that the baby was mine, and I couldn’t forgive that.”

The Fugees disbanded in 1997, and according to Wycelf, it was her deceit that pushed the group’s demise. “She could no longer be my muse,” he reveals. “Our love spell was broken.”

Purpose: An Immigrant’s Story is published by Harper Collins and hits bookstores on Tuesday Sept 18.

Wyclef Jean has put Lauryn Hill on blast in his upcoming memoir, accusing her of “deceit” and a lack of loyalty. The two were once close friends and collaborators, but the Fugees frontman claims that their relationship soured due to Hill’s betrayal. This news has rocked fans who have followed the pair since they rose to fame in the mid-90s.

In an exclusive excerpt from Wyclef Jean’s book “Purpose: An Immigrant’s Story”, he describes how Hill used him for personal gain while neglecting her obligations as part of The Fugees. He writes that she took songs written by other members and claimed them as her own, which drove a wedge between them. Jean also accuses Hill of manipulating people around her to suit her needs – all while never showing gratitude or appreciation.

This revelation has been met with shock from many music aficionados, who had no idea there was such animosity behind the scenes during The Fugees heyday. With the release of Wyclef Jean’s memoir fast approaching, this is sure to be just one example of the drama fans can expect when reading about his life story.

Background On The Dispute

The long-standing feud between Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean has been well documented over the years. The two first rose to fame together as part of the Fugees, before their subsequent solo careers put them at odds with each other. Recently, news broke that Jean was set to include details about Hill in his upcoming memoir – something he claims is necessary for “the greater good.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Jean revealed what sparked this new round of tension between the former collaborators: a dispute over songwriting credits on one of Hill’s most iconic albums, The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill (1998). According to Jean, there were songs on the album that he had written or co-written but was not credited for. He believes she committed “deceit” by keeping him off those tracks and publishing her own name only.

Hill has yet to comment publicly on these allegations; however, it appears this latest development could potentially reignite one of music’s longest running rivalries. Regardless of who wrote what seventeen years ago, it looks like fans may have to wait a while longer until both sides can settle this matter once and for all.

Wyclef’s Response To Lauryn Hill’s Memoir

In the face of Lauryn Hill’s upcoming memoir, Wyclef Jean has been vocal about his grievances with her. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, he accused her of “deceit” over songwriting credits from The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill album and claimed that she had kept him off certain tracks in order to publish them under only her name.

Since then, Jean has taken a more aggressive stance on the issue. He released a statement saying that it was time for “the truth to be heard” and called out Hill for allegedly refusing to acknowledge his contributions to the project. He also suggested that if she wanted to tell her own story, she should do so without taking credit away from others who worked hard on the same project.

Jean clearly feels strongly about this matter and believes that proper recognition is necessary when it comes to any form of creative collaboration. It remains unclear if either side will take further action or if they have reached a resolution behind closed doors; however, one thing seems certain: There won’t be a truce between these two anytime soon.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the dispute between Wyclef Jean and Lauryn Hill has been ongoing for many years. It appears that the two have not resolved their differences, which is unfortunate considering how influential each of them has been to the music industry.

Wyclef’s response to Lauryn’s upcoming memoir was one of disappointment and frustration. He accused her of being deceitful in her account of events, claiming it does not reflect reality. While this may be true from his perspective, we don’t know what really happened and can only speculate based on both sides’ accounts.

It would be great if Wyclef and Lauryn could come together and reconcile their differences instead of airing grievances in a public forum. Hopefully they will resolve their issues soon so they can once again focus on creating meaningful music together as they did during their time with The Fugees.
