Rihanna, Frank Ocean Added to VMA Performance Line Up

According to MTV’s television promos, the list of performers for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards are Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift, Green Day, Pink, and One Direction. But they’ve now added Rihanna and Frank Ocean to the line-up.

Rihanna was the first to announce on Twitter last week after a fan asked if she was performing: “PHUCK YES I WILLLL!!! JUST FOR MY NAVY!!!!” she replied. She ties Drake with the most nominations at five, including Best Female Video, and Best Pop Video.

Frank Ocean will also be taking the stage at the Staples Center, performing music from his debut album, ‘Channel Orange.’ Ocean is nominated for three awards, including Best Male Artist, and Best New Artist.

Tune in on Sept 6, at 8pm EST where comedian Kevin Hart will host this year’s festivities.

It’s that time of the year again! The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) are just around the corner and music fans everywhere will be glued to their screens on August 30th. This year, the lineup is more star-studded than ever before with some of today’s biggest artists taking center stage. Two names recently added to the list? She made history when she became the first female artist to reach 100 million Gold & Platinum song certifications from RIAA and continues to break records with every release. From Fenty Beauty, Savage X Fenty lingerie line, and new music coming soon, it looks like 2020 won’t be slowing down anytime soon for RiRi!

Frank Ocean is no stranger to success either. His 2012 studio album ‘Channel Orange’ earned him two GRAMMY awards: Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for his hit single “No Church In The Wild” which he contributed vocals too alongside Jay Z & Kanye West. Since then, he has continued dropping singles while producing music for other major artists such as Travis Scott who featured him on his track ‘CAROUSEL’. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of performance he brings to this years VMAs – we can only hope its something special!

This year’s ceremony is set to honor music videos released between June 25th 2019 and July 23rd 2020 in various genres including pop, hip-hop and R&B. Artists can submit their work for consideration here until Friday, August 7th with voting opening soon after that. Winners will be announced during the show as well as during additional content leading up to it – so stay tuned!
