Yesterday (Aug 14th) would have been Julian King’s 11th birthday. The nephew of Jennifer Hudson was shot and killed by his stepfather William Balfour in 2008. After the tragedy, Jennifer and her sister and Julian’s mother Julia founded the Julian D. King Gift Foundation that helps underprivileged Chicago children.
The sisters distributed school supplies yesterday through the foundation for “Hatch Day,” a phrase used by Julian to mean a day to celebrate. Everyday was Hatch Day for Julian.
