Adele, LMFAO and Lil Wayne swept the 2012 Billboard Music Awards with major wins Sunday night.
Leading the pack with a total of twelve awards, Adele picked up Top Female Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Pop Album, for “21,” and Top Alternative Song, for “Rolling in the Deep.” She also earned Top Artist and Top Billboard 200 Album.
“Party Rock Anthem” group LMFAO followed Adele with a strong six wins including nods for Hot 100 Song of the Year and Top Duo/Group.
While he was not there to accept, Lil Wayne earned four awards sweeping the rap categories with Top Rap Song, Top Rap Artist and Top Male Artist.
R&B talents Beyonce, Chris Brown, and Kelly Rowland swept the R&B categories winning Top R&B Album, Top R&B Artist and Top R&B Song respectively.
The 2012 Billboard Music Awards aired live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with hosts Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen Sunday.
Performances from Usher, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and LMFAO kept the audience on their feet while tributes to Whitney Houston, Donna Summer, Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys and Robin Gibb of the BeeGees were somber yet needed moments.
Whoppi Goldberg, John Legend and Jordin Sparks gave a strong tribute to Whitney Houston, while Natasha Bedingfield performed a song for Donna Summer. Alicia Keys paid tribute to and performed with Stevie Wonder closing out the show.
