The Bodyguard Musical has an official launch date. Announced at a press conference Tuesday, the musical starring Heather Headley as Rachel Marron, will open December 5 in London.
Based on the Warner Bros. film of the same name, which starred Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, the production will feature a bevy of Houston hits including “I Have Nothing,” “Run To You,” and “I Will Always Love You.”
Songs not included in the film, including “So Emotional,” “One Moment In Time,” “I’m Your Baby Tonight,” “How Will I Know,” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” have also been added.
Tony Award winner Heather Headley was announced as lead last Fall, prior to Houston’s death. She will be joined by actor Lloyd Owen, who will portray Frank Farmer.
