Jill Scott will return to Lifetime, just two years after the success of “Sins of the Mother,” in a remake of ‘Steel Magnolias.’

Joining Queen Latifah, who will star in and executive produce the remake featuring an all black cast that includes Alfre Woodard, Phylicia Rashad, Condola Rashad and Adepero Oduye, Scott will play Truvy, a beautician.

The revamped Steel Magnolias will chronicle the lives and friendship of six women in Louisiana. Supporting each other through their triumphs and tragedies, they congregate at Truvy’s (Jill Scott) beauty shop to ponder the mysteries of life and death, husbands and children – and hair and nails – all the important topics that bring women together,” reports Lifetime.

Production will begin this April, with plans for a premiere later this year.

Jill Scott’s credits include The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, Why Did I Get Married ?, Why Did I Get Married Too ? and Sins of the Mother. The latter, starring Nicole Beharie, was the second highest rated and second most watched original movie in Lifetime history when it premiered in 2010.

Jill Scott is an award-winning singer, songwriter and actress whose illustrious career has been full of success. Now, she’s taking on a new challenge – starring in her second Lifetime movie! This exciting project is sure to be one of the most talked about films of the year. Here we’ll discuss what fans can expect from this upcoming film and why it should not be missed.

The multi-talented Jill Scott first made waves with her debut album Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1 back in 2000. Since then, she’s wowed audiences around the world with her stunning performances on stage as well as memorable roles in television shows like Tyler Perry’s Love Thy Neighbor and Why Did I Get Married Too? Her latest endeavor will see her return to the small screen for another captivating role in a Lifetime original movie.

This highly anticipated film marks Scott’s second collaboration with the network; she previously starred alongside Mary J. Blige in 2017’s The Christmas Set Up which was met with critical acclaim from viewers across the globe who fell in love with its heartwarming story. With such high expectations surrounding this new movie, audiences are eager to find out more about it and how it compares to past successes – both Scott’s and Lifetime’s!

Overview Of The Movie

Jill Scott is taking her talent to the big screen again with her second lifetime movie. The film, titled ‘A Day Late and A Dollar Short’, will be based on the novel of the same name by Terry McMillan. It follows a family’s journey through life as they deal with love, loss and personal obstacles.

The movie stars veteran actor Whoopi Goldberg alongside an all-star cast featuring Kimberly Elise, Ving Rhames, Anika Noni Rose, Mekhi Phifer and many more. Jill Scott herself plays Viola Price in the feature; a loving mother who must juggle between caring for her aging parents and dealing with issues concerning her own children.

This latest project from Jill Scott offers viewers an emotional roller coaster ride that touches on common experiences such as heartache, hardship and healing. Fans can expect to see powerful performances from some of Hollywood’s biggest names when it premieres later this year.

Jill Scott’s Role In The Film

Viola Price, played by Jill Scott in the film, is a strong-willed mother of three children whose life has been filled with its share of challenges. She’s determined to keep her family together despite any obstacles that come their way. Viola loves and accepts her children unconditionally and works hard to provide them with a good home environment.

Jill Scott brings an undeniable energy to the role of Viola Price which will undoubtedly captivate viewers as they watch her character’s journey throughout the movie. Her portrayal is sure to be inspiring as she showcases how courage and tenacity can help one overcome even the toughest adversity.

The highly anticipated feature offers fans a unique perspective into the lives of ordinary people who are faced with extraordinary circumstances – something everyone can relate to. With a powerful performance from Jill Scott at its center, ‘A Day Late And A Dollar Short’ promises to deliver an emotionally charged experience that will stay with viewers long after it ends.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Jill Scott’s latest role in the upcoming Lifetime movie is sure to be a hit. She will undoubtedly bring her dynamic on-screen presence and powerful voice to the project. It’s no surprise that she has been chosen for such an important part as this will be her second time starring in a film produced by the network.

Her first experience with Lifetime was playing the lead role of Maxine Robinson in their 2017 television movie “Love Under New Management: The Miki Howard Story”. That performance earned her critical acclaim and further cemented her reputation as one of Hollywood’s most talented actresses. Now, I’m looking forward to seeing what she can do when she takes on yet another challenging role in this new production!

No matter what kind of character Jill Scott plays, it’s clear that whatever project she signs up for is sure to be successful. With her incredible range and undeniable talent, there is simply no stopping this star from reaching even greater heights within the entertainment industry!
