The leader of the Parliament-Funkadelic, George Clinton, known as one of the originators of funk, has been awarded an honorary doctor of music degree from the prestige Berklee College of Music. Clinton adds the accomplishment to his award as BMI Urban Icon, Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame, Lifetime Achievement Award from the NAACP Image Awards and more.
P-Funk held a four-day teaching residency at Boston college prior to receiving his honorary cap and gown. He closed his educational class with a concert, wearing a silver suit covering his artistic catalog from Parliament to Funkadelic to his solo career hits.
Clinton’s innovative contributions to music have held a place in video games, films, and music leaving his imprint on people from all walks of life.
