Fans can look forward to hearing a more vulnerable and revealing Melanie Fiona on her sophomore effort, ‘The MF Life’, due out on March 27th via Title 9/SRC/Universal Republic Records. On the upcoming LP, the Toronto songstress described it as an expansion of herself.
“This new album broadens my musical spectrum,” she explained. “With ‘The Bridge’ I was looking to break into music and may have played a little conservative, but with ‘The MF Life’ I’m opening up more, which you can clearly hear on [the song] ‘4AM’.”
The president of Title 9 Records, Carmen Murray, also comments, “To see Melanie collaborate with some of the most talented artists in the industry and be recognized for it shows that she is respected for her creativity and talent. This new project will reflect that.”
Aside from growing as an artist musically, Fiona also has much to celebrate with her first Grammy win last night for her smash hit “Fool For You” with Cee-Lo Green. Not only did the song win for Best R&B Song, but it also took the award home as the Best Traditional R&B Performance.
“I am thrilled to have won my first Grammy award and to get two in one night is a true honor. I thank the Grammy Academy and most of all Cee-Lo Green for reaching out to me for this track,” said Melanie.
