Mary J. Blige has shown love to those who have followed in her footsteps.
Appearing on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live! Tuesday night, Blige saluted a number of R&B/soul artists including Beyonce and Miguel.
“I have to say I respect all the females,” Blige said in response to a fan questioning who her favorite artist is right now. “The Alicia Keys’, Beyonce, who can sing and entertain.”
After praising Keys and Beyonce, the latter appearing on her latest album “My Life II: The Journey Continues, Act I,” Blige recognized “Sure Thing” singer Miguel and Chris Brown.
“…Chris Brown. Miguel. I appreciate mostly all of the young artists,” said Blige.
In related news, Mary J Blige addressed controversy at the Golden Globes over the Best Original Song award and beef between Elton John and Madonna Tuesday. Claiming she “doesn’t know” Madonna, Blige called Elton John a close friend.
“I love Elton. Elton is my friend for real,” said Blige. “I don’t know Madonna. So I would never say anything negative about her.”
