Though there are still a few days left in the 2011, currently Adele is predicted to have the biggest selling album of 2011 due to the consistent sales of her album ’21.’ The sophomore project, released back in January, has since sold a staggering total of 5.28 million copies in the U.S. alone.
The high sales number also makes the “Rolling In The Deep” singer the first musician to pass the 5 million mark in a year of sales since Usher did it back in 2004 with his album ‘Confessions,’ which sold 7.9 million copies.
Though Adele is nearly a sure-win, she is also contending against Lady GaGa and Michael Buble for the title. Lady GaGa has sold a total of 2.03 million for ‘Born This Way,’ and Buble has a total of 1.96 million of his holiday project ‘Christmas.’
In previous years, Eminem took the bestseller title with his album ‘Recovery,’ Taylor Swift with her ‘Fearless’ album, and Lil Wayne with ‘Tha Carter III’.
