With the end of the year 2011 creeping up, it also means that we’re getting closer to the Grammy Awards once again. Last night (November 30th), the nominees for the 2012 Grammy Awards were announced after a live concert showcase, which included performances from Usher, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and more. There was no doubt that British vocalist Adele would get nominated for the Grammys for her latest effort ’21,’ as she received six nods including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for “Rolling in the Deep.” Rihanna also received six nods for her ‘LOUD’ album, as well as for her collaborative effort with Kanye West on “All of the Lights,” while Bruno Mars was right behind her with five nominations.
Many received three nods, including Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Cee-Lo Green, Kelly Price, and Ledisi. Meanwhile, Beyonce, R. Kelly, Melanie Fiona, Marsha Ambrosius, and Charlie Wilson pulled in two nods, while Kelly Rowland as received a nomination for her single “Motivation.”
It was, however, Kanye West’s night, who led the pack as he managed to pull in seven nominations.
The big music event will air live from Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Sunday, February 12 at 8PM on CBS.
