It’s not very often that you hear of artists turning down the opportunity to work with Coldplay, but that seemed to be the case with Beyonce.
Though we’re not sure of exactly why, it turns out that Beyonce had turned down an offer to work with the group. Beyonce is known for her close friendship with Coldplay front-man Chris Martin and his wife, Gwyneth Paltrow. Nevertheless, Coldplay ended up collaborating with Rihanna on their latest LP ‘Mylo Xyloto.’
“Well, I did write a song for Beyonce, but it got rejected by her A&R people. And the one I wrote for Rihanna didn’t get rejected,” Martin revealed to Maxim magazine.
He continued, “It was when she was doing Rated R, but it took so long – there’s still this tribalism in music where we’re rock and you’re pop and you’re hip-hop, and it sometimes takes a while to get across those barriers.”
Dubbing her the “greatest singer in the world,” Martin continued to praise the “We Found Love” songstress on their collaborative effort “Princess In China” off of the album. “She’s f**king rad, and I love listening to her. It’s my favourite real singing on the album, because it isn’t me,” he said.
What would you have thought of a Beyonce and Coldplay collabo?
