R&B singer Adele’s critically acclaimed sophomore album ’21’ has topped the charts once again for the 18th week, positioning her as the first female to make chart history. In the last forty years, only the Bee Gees were able to hold this record for their soundtrack to the film ‘Saturday Night Fever.’ The only other artists to have spent a longer time at the number one spot are The Beatles, Simon And Garfunkel and Elvis Presley.
As of now, ’21’ has been certified 10x platinum in the UK, with over 3,000,000 copies sold there alone. The album is also the longest running #1 in the history of British charts. Currently, ’21’ has sold a total of at least 7.94 million copies worldwide.
Congrats are indeed for Adele. Let’s hope she continues to make more history with the project.
