He has been making beats since he was 15 years old, and producing hip-hop tracks as part of underground collectives for over two decades. Slakah’s sound is rooted in soul and R&B with jazz influences; it has been described as “cinematic” and praised for its emotive qualities.
His debut solo album The Cure Music was released in 2005 to critical acclaim. It featured guest appearances from some of Canada’s most talented artists like Drake, K’naan, Saukrates and Divine Brown.
