After being arrested this past weekend on suspicion of DUI and reckless driving after having an accident, R&B singer Nivea has come to her own defense, insisting that she was not drinking.
“Thank You 2 all that were concerned, I’m doing fine! I NEVER said what ppl r saying I said to/about the cop by the way,” she wrote on Twitter Monday. “Its just unfortunate how the Media & Law can be used against you when you don’t know enough about the way they work. Again, thnx 4 all the love.”
She continued, “And one more thing, I WAS NOT DRINKING AND DRIVING, the accident was Not due to me being intoxicated. Just wanted to clear that.”
TMZ reported that Nivea had “bloodshot, glassy eyes and smelled like alcohol” when the cops arrived to the scene, she was later taken to the Fulton County Correctional Facility. The ex-wife of rap mogul Lil Wayne was leaving a wedding reception for friend and another Weezy former flame Toya Carter, when she reportedly crashed her ’06 Mercedes into a tree. Her excuse for the accident was that she didn’t see yellow crime tape and traffic cones that were dotting around to keep drivers away from the tree, which had fallen into the road due to a storm.
