Jill Scott – The Light Of The Sun (Warner Bros. Records)
‘The Light Of The Sun,’ Jill Scott’s highly anticipated fourth studio album and the follow-up to RIAA gold-certified, The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3, hits stores today. The album features the lead single “So In Love” a collaboration with Anthony Hamilton along with features from Eve, Doug E. Fresh and Paul Wall.
“‘The Light of the Sun’ is about being revealing and refreshing â it’s warm. It’s rejuvenating” says Jill Scott of the new album. “That’s the kind of music I wanted to create this time around. I’m not hiding in any dark places or in any shadows. What hurt me, I’m going to let you hear it. I did it in a take so the notes may not be perfect, I don’t like auto-tuning. I don’t like doing things like that, I like humanity in music. So for lack of a better phrase I got naked. I got naked in front of the microphone. That means that the ‘Light of the Sun’ is all over â I can’t hide myself.”
Jagged Edge – Remedy (Five 81 Records/Slip-N-Slide)
R&B veterans Jagged Edge are back with their seventh album the ‘Remedy.’ Breaking into the industry in the 1990’s, the group has offered music lovers ballads, dance tracks, and other hit singles that have stood the test of time. The Atlanta based singer-songwriters are back again to capture fans as only they know how.
Jagged Edge continues their identity while infusing today’s trends, “Well music changes so much that I think one of the keys to our success has been that. We aren’t afraid of change with music.” Setting fans expectations Jagged Edge said “Of course, the things people have grown to love us for which is usually our ballads and meaningful heartfelt records will be on the album as well. So we take that and add in all the trendy stuff.”
The group kept the focus on them by only allowing one feature (Rick Ross) on the album. In addition it is the first album the band has released on their record label Five 81 Records.
Joe – Joe: Greatest Hits (Sony Legacy Records)
Joe continues to leave his footprint in the R&B world with his latest album – a compilation of his most beloved songs titled ‘Joe: Greatest Hits.’ This music veteran has condensed decades of soulfully decadent jams into one 15-track disc. With fan favorites like ‘I Wanna Know’, All The Things (Your Man Won’t Do)’, ‘Don’t Wanna Be a Player’ plus more, Joe treats listeners with the kind of timeless music only he can deliver.
The ladies’ man with the velvet voice once said, “I feel like if you have a queen, you should treat her like a queen. I feel she doesn’t deserve anything less than that.” And it is that same smooth appeal to women that he recreates on his greatest hits album.
Still a force within this industry, Joe makes it a point to give music lovers exactly what they want â the classics!
