R&B crooner Brian McKnight, who original planned to release his tenth studio album in April, Has pushed the set back to July. The forthcoming effort, entitled ‘Just Me,’ will be a double disc of twenty-two songs, that include ten unreleased songs from his extensive catalog.
Like Raphael Saadiq’s Stone Rollin’, McKnight is taking it back to the old school on the new project, channeling the influences of Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles and The Temptations.
Along with the release of the album McKnight will offer fans a DVD of ‘Just Me.’ In addition, McKnight kicked off the âJust Me’ tour early this month and the trek will run throughout the summer (dates below).
Now that the “Anytime” hitmaker is no longer producing the radio show, ‘The Brian McKnight Show,’ he is focusing more on music.

For those that just can’t wait until the album drops later this year, you’ll still get your chance to hear him live on stage as the multi-platinum selling artist has announced his U.S Fall 2021 Tour Dates. So don’t worry if you feel like missing out on hearing ‘Just Me’ straight away – you can still enjoy all of Brian McKnight classics in person!
Overview Of Brian Mcknight’s Career
Brian McKnight has been a staple in the music industry for decades. He’s released 16 studio albums, won numerous awards, and is even part of the Grammy Hall of Fame. McKnight began his career as an R&B singer-songwriter but had success with other genres like pop and jazz. He’s toured extensively throughout his career and continues to tour today despite postponing some dates due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Unfortunately, Brian McKnight’s 17th album ‘Just Me’ was recently delayed until 2021. The new album had already been pushed back from its original 2020 release date because of production delays related to the pandemic. The delay comes after two singles were released off the album in late 2019 featuring guest appearances from Toni Braxton, John Legend, and several others.
Despite this setback, fans have shown their support for McKnight by streaming his past work on popular platforms such as Spotify. And while they wait for Just Me to be officially released, there are still opportunities to see him perform live – albeit virtually or at drive-in concerts during these times of social distancing – where he plays all your favorite hits plus songs off his upcoming record.
Details Of New Album And Tour Plans
Despite the delay of ‘Just Me’, McKnight still has plenty in store for his fans. The album itself is sure to be a treat with production from Timbaland and appearances from some of today’s biggest names. It will also feature several classic songs that have been re-recorded by Brian himself. Fans can expect an eclectic mix of R&B, pop, jazz, and soul on this upcoming release.
McKnight isn’t letting the setback slow him down either; he’ll continue performing live shows while awaiting the new record’s arrival. He recently announced dates for a virtual tour which will bring his music directly into your home via livestreams and pre-recorded performances. Additionally, many drive-in concerts are scheduled throughout summer 2020 so you can enjoy his music safely while social distancing measures remain in effect.
So even though Brian McKnight’s 17th studio album won’t arrive until 2021, there are still plenty of opportunities to hear his signature sound through these various touring plans – providing fans with something to look forward to during these uncertain times!
Conclusion
Brian McKnight has had an impressive career, full of chart-topping hits and multiple Grammy Award nominations. His upcoming album ‘Just Me’ was set to be released in May 2020, however due to the global pandemic it has been delayed indefinitely. Despite this setback, McKnight is still planning for a tour when his new album does finally come out.
This delay is unfortunate but understandable given the current circumstances. While I am sure fans are disappointed by the news that they will have to wait longer than expected for new music from Brian McKnight, I’m sure we can all agree that safety must always come first. It’s great to see artists like him continuing to work on their art during these trying times and I’m looking forward to hearing what he releases next!
In conclusion, Brian McKnight’s new album ‘Just Me’ has unfortunately been delayed due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis; however his plans for a tour remain intact. As one of R&B’s greatest icons, I’m sure many people will eagerly await the release of his newest project. Until then, let us hope that life returns back to some semblance of normalcy soon so we can enjoy more music from talented artists such as Brian McKnight!
