R&B singers Jennifer Hudson and Yolanda Adams, popstar Christina Aguilera, country superstar Martina McBride and newcomer Florence Welch has been tapped to perform a special “valentine” and “get-well card” celebration for 18-time GRAMMY winner Aretha Franklin at the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards.

The special segment will feature individual and collective performances of some of the Queen of Soul’s classic hits, while Esperanza Spalding will also perform in a special number with members of the GRAMMY Jazz Ensembles and GRAMMY Camp.

Adams, Aguilera, Hudson, McBride, Spalding, and Welch join previously announced performers and nominees Arcade Fire, Eminem, Lady Antebellum, Lady Gaga, Miranda Lambert, Muse, Katy Perry, and Barbra Streisand in a rare performance; nominees Justin Bieber and Usher, with Jaden Smith; nominees B.o.B, Bruno Mars, and Janelle Monae; nominees Drake and Rihanna; nominee Cee Lo Green, with Gwyneth Paltrow and the Jim Henson Company Puppets; and Mick Jagger with Raphael Saadiq.

The 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards will take place live on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network from 8 – 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

Aretha Franklin, the legendary Queen of Soul, is set to receive a posthumous tribute at this year’s Grammy Awards. An all-star lineup featuring Jennifer Hudson and Yolanda Adams will be performing her classic songs in celebration of her life and legacy. This performance promises to be an unforgettable spectacle that honors one of music’s greatest talents.

This highly anticipated event comes after last years’ heartbreaking loss of Franklin due to advanced pancreatic cancer. Since then, fans worldwide have been clamoring for some kind of homage to commemorate the immense impact she had on American culture through her artistry. The ceremony organizers are ensuring that the late star gets the recognition she so rightly deserves by bringing together three powerhouse vocalists -Jennifer Hudson, Yolanda Adams and company- to honor her memory with their singing talent.

The ceremony will feature renditions of some of Franklin’s most beloved hits such as “Respect” and “A Natural Woman” as well as other gospel classics from her career. It is sure to be an emotional experience for both those who knew Aretha during her lifetime as well as younger generations discovering her now for the first time -all united under one roof in admiration for the incomparable musical genius of ‘the queen’.

The lineup has been carefully curated to both highlight the immense impact that Aretha had on music as well as showcase some of today’s most talented vocalists. Of course, there’s Jennifer Hudson, who recently paid homage to Franklin with an acclaimed performance in the 2019 film Respect. She’ll be joined onstage by fellow powerhouse singer Yolanda Adams plus several others whose names have yet to be revealed.

It promises to be an emotional evening as these artists come together in remembrance of one of the greatest singers ever produced by our country – and possibly any country – Aretha Franklin. It will also serve as a fitting finale for what has already been a memorable night honoring music from all genres across multiple eras.

Performance Lineup For Grammy Celebration

The lineup for this special celebration of Aretha Franklin is truly something to behold. Leading the way are two powerhouse vocalists, Jennifer Hudson and Yolanda Adams. Both bring their own unique style and range while paying tribute to the Queen of Soul in their own ways. Joining them on stage will be Grammy-winning singer Brandi Carlile who has been described as one of the most promising artists of her generation.

Adding even more star power to the event is a series of surprise guests that have yet to be announced. What we do know is that these mystery performers come from various musical backgrounds – some with traditional soul/R&B roots and others from different genres altogether – so fans can expect an exciting mix of sounds during this once-in-a-lifetime performance.
