Born Elgin Baylor Lumpkin on October 15th 1975 in Washington D.C., he began his career as part of the group Sista where they released their debut album Ain’t Nothin’ But A She Thing in 1996. Ginuwine went solo shortly afterwards and achieved considerable success with his first single “Pony” from his debut album Ginuwine…The Bachelor which was released in 1997. He followed it up with numerous successful albums such as 100% Ginuwine (1999), The Life (2001) and Back II Da Basics (2005). In more recent times, he’s starred in films like Soul Plane (2004) and appeared on stage productions including Rent (2007).
While continuing to be active musically, Ginuwine has also become involved in other activities outside music.
