Since the release of his latest racy music video for “She’s Single,” R&B crooner Raheem DeVaughn has been receiving a lot of slack from naysayers, similar to responses to Keri Hilson’s “The Way You Love Me.” The controversial video, dubbed soft porn, has become a viral phenomenon, even trending on Twitter. “I wanted to create an image that was tasteful, but cutting edge, provocative, grown… real,” DeVaughn tells Vibe.com of the raunchy clip. “I wanted to have people guessing and jaw-dropping. I knew it was going to be big but I didn’t guess all this. I was curious to see just how many people are checking for me, but it looks like a lot of people are.” “She’s Single” is lifted off DeVaughn’s new mixtape ‘Jackin’ 4 Beats,’ and is a remake of Lil Wayne’s song “Single.” The “Customer” singer says the song is not a cry for attention. “It’s not a moment of desperation. Technically there ain’t no records to sell. It’s a free mixtape. I paid for the video to be shot myself. It’s just another way for me to display my artistry,” he tells Vibe. “I’m constantly reinventing myself. It’s a constant thing that I do. No diss to any of my homies, but I pay very close attention to what people say about me. I maybe saw five negative comments out of thousands. And what’s interesting is it was from dudes. But I made this for women. I made this for a woman to say that’s how I want to be loved down. And for the brothers who do ride with me I made it for them to say yeah that’s how I put it down.” Unlike Keri Hilson, DeVaughn’s video was only created for promotional use and not for commercial sales. Understanding the double standard, DeVaughn says he’s cool with her video as well, even though he didn’t have a chance to view it. “I haven’t seen her video yet, but I’ve seen some of the comments. Someone created a blog page on just me and her,” he says. “They had our pictures up like mug shots like how does this dude go from “Customer” to this? Easy. It’s art man, don’t take it so seriously. I’m a fan of Keri. Unfortunately for women though, if they decide to be promiscuous they’re going to get a bad rap. It is what it is. We all know that. But hopefully it was her decision. If she’s cool with it, I’m cool with it.” Read the rest of this interview on Vibe.com.

Raheem DeVaughn is one of the most influential R&B singers in the industry. His latest single, “She’s Single,” has been stirring up controversy due to its unique and provocative visuals. So what does Raheem have to say about it? Let’s find out!

In his new music video for “She’s Single,” Raheem takes us on a journey through an unconventional relationship between two lovers that pushes boundaries and flips traditional gender roles. The visuals are both bold and eye-catching – but they’ve also sparked debate among fans over their deeper meanings. Fans can’t help but ask: Is Raheem trying to make a statement with this video? What inspired him to create such a powerful piece of art?

Raheem recently sat down with reporters to explain why he chose to illustrate such an unconventional story in his music video – and why he believes everyone should be free to express themselves without judgement or criticism. He shares how important it was for him to show authenticity within his work, in order to inspire others who may feel like they don’t fit into society’s norms. In this exclusive interview, we’ll get an inside look at the creative process behind “She’s Single” as well as hear more from Raheem himself on why he chose to tell this particular story.

Overview Of ‘She’s Single’ Video

Raheem Devaughn’s new single “She’s Single,” from his fifth studio album A Place Called Love Land, has been making waves since its release. The video for the track is a vivid visual narrative that tells the story of a woman who embarks on an empowering journey to independence and self-love. Despite being criticized for objectifying women and reinforcing stereotypes about female relationships, Raheem stands behind the message he was trying to convey in the song and video.

The music video opens with Raheem singing to a beautiful woman as they share a romantic date night together. We then see her walking down city streets alone at night which implies she has recently left a relationship and is embarking on her own path of healing and self-discovery. Throughout the rest of the video we witness her reclaiming her power by taking control over her career, fashion choices, body language, etc., while simultaneously ignoring all of society’s expectations of how she should look or behave as a newly single woman.

The song itself celebrates this newfound freedom with lyrics like “she no longer needs you/but it took some time but now she strong enough /to make it work out on her own” – sending the powerful message that despite any hurtful breakups or heartache in life one can always find strength within themselves to persevere through difficult times and come out even stronger than before. In essence, this is what Devaughn wanted viewers to take away from both his song and music video; that every person deserves respect regardless of their relationship status and if given the chance can become more empowered than ever before because ultimately everyone needs to be loved by themselves first before anyone else can love them truly.

Raheem Devaughn’s Response

Although the video has been met with criticism, Raheem DeVaughn is unapologetic about its message. He believes that “She’s Single” showcases an empowering story of self-love and independence for women everywhere, regardless of their relationship status. In interviews, he has defended his video by explaining that it was intended to show women in a positive light as they take control over their own lives without relying on anyone else.

DeVaughn also argues that many people have misconstrued the meaning behind the song and music video due to its title which conveys a sense of desperation or loneliness, when really there is nothing depressing or negative about being single. To him, being single doesn’t mean you’re incomplete but rather gives one time to reflect and work on themselves until they are ready to share their love with someone else. Ultimately, the real takeaway from “She’s Single” isn’t just a fun upbeat anthem – it’s an inspiring reminder that everyone can achieve happiness and success independently if we simply believe in ourselves.

Raheem DeVaughn wants people to understand that although relationships are important, your worth should never be determined by another person – because true joy comes from within and through celebrating our individual growth no matter what stage of life we may find ourselves in.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Raheem DeVaughn’s response to his controversial ‘She’s Single’ video provides an interesting insight into the creative process. He explains that he wanted to create a visual representation of what many single women go through in their relationships. His intention was not to be offensive or judgmental but rather to provide comfort and support for those who feel like they are on their own when it comes to love.

His explanation goes deeper though as DeVaughn talks about how everyone experiences different levels of loneliness and isolation in relationships; even if you’re with someone, you can still feel alone. It’s important for us all to recognize this feeling and work towards creating healthier relationship dynamics where both partners feel supported and understood.

Ultimately, we should appreciate DeVaughn’s attempt at bringing attention to a difficult topic—being single is hard! But by discussing our feelings openly and honestly, we can make sure that no one ever has to experience being alone again.
