Group History
Group History
Dru Hill is an R&B quartet from Baltimore, Maryland. Founded in 1992 by Tamir “Nokio” Ruffin and Mark “Sisqó” Andrews, the group quickly grew a fan base due to their unique style of soulful harmonies and smooth production. They gained further success with the release of their debut album Dru Hill in 1996 which spawned two number one singles “In My Bed” and “Never Make A Promise”. This early success launched them into superstardom as they became a household name throughout the US.
The group continued releasing top charting albums such as Enter The Dru (1998) and Dru World Order (2002). But despite experiencing major commercial success, each member’s solo projects began to take precedence over the collective work, leading to a hiatus in 2003. After six years apart, Sisqo returned to reunite with Nokio, Jazz, and Kinteh for another studio album InDRUpendence Day (2010). However, this project only received moderate praise among fans and critics alike.
Now 14 years after their last full-length effort, Dru Hill has released their latest single “Love Drug” off of their upcoming 7th album that will feature collaborations with Grammy Award winning producers Timbaland & Bryan Michael Cox. With much anticipation surrounding what could be the group’s final record together, it appears that Dru Hill looks to close out their career on a high note by bringing back their signature sound while also pushing forward with new ideas.
Upcoming Projects
Having established a legacy in the R&B industry, Dru Hill looks to the future with their upcoming projects. With Timbaland and Bryan Michael Cox on board as producers for their 7th album, it is sure to be another classic addition to the group’s impressive discography. Fans can expect a mix of old-school vibes with modern production which will surely bring something fresh to the table.
The group also announced that they are working on a docu-series titled ‘Dru World Order’, giving an inside look at how each member has grown over the years both musically and personally. The series aims to give viewers a chance to understand why these four men have been able to remain successful despite various personal issues that almost caused them to disband many times throughout their career.
In anticipation of all this new material, Dru Hill continues touring around the world while performing classics from previous albums as well as some unreleased songs off of their upcoming album. After more than two decades together, it appears that Dru Hill is still going strong and ready to show fans what they have in store for the future.
