Is Trey Songz the new King of R&B ? According to US Magazine, the chart-topping talent is on top of his game this year — to which Songz says “it’s been a long time coming”. “Hopefully I will continue to work as hard and get as much recognition if not, more,” Songz went on to tell the magazine. While Songz took aim at R&B veteran R. Kelly last year, he is in fact thankful for comparisons to fellow R&B heavyweight Usher. Admitting that Usher will “always” have “a spot,” Songz says he’s just here to make his mark. “Usher is always going to have his spot in the game. As far as I’m concerned, I’m here to make my mark,” Songz tells US (watch video below). “Actually I’ve had talks with Usher where he’s given me advice. We’ve talked about a lot of things”. Songz will follow Usher on the road to the Grammy’s this weekend. He is nominated for Best Contemporary R&B Album, stemming from the 2009 effort “Ready”.
