Britney Spears capped off 2009 on a high note thanks to her lauded trek — the Circus tour. Touring in support of her 2008 effort, of the same name (“Circus”), Spears raked in a reported $82.5 million to make the top 5 on Pollstar’s Top 20 Tours of 2009 list. Coming in a few spots below U2 ($123 million) and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band ($94.5 million), Spears’ “Circus” bested popular group The Jonas Brothers to land no.4. The Jonas Brothers, touring in support of the 2009 effort “Lines, Vines, Trying Times,” missed the top 5, but earned a comfortable spot at no.7 with a reported $69 million earned. Elton John and Billy Joel (no.3, $88million), AC/DC (no.5, $77.9 million), Kenny Chesney (no.6, $71.1 million), Dave Matthews Band (no.8, $56.9 million), Fleetwood Mac (no.9, $54.5 million), and Metallica (no.10, $53.4 million) round out this year’s top 10. Miley Cyrus, Nickelback, Celine Dion, Coldplay, Paul McCartney and Rascal Flatts also made the list.
