Trey Songz and Usher double teamed Jay-Z with their hit singles “I Invented Sex” and “Papers” to oust the rapper from his several week post atop the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart this week. Sending “Empire State of Mind” down to no.3 (1-3), Usher ends up claiming the summit with the “Raymond Vs. Raymond” featured single “Papers”. History making as well, “Papers” becomes Usher’s 10th no.1 single since his debut. It also becomes his first no.1 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart since 2008s “Love In This Club”. Fresh off scoring his second Grammy nomination for “Ready,” Trey Songz moves up to no.2 on the strength of “I Invented Sex”. Just like Usher, Songz’s “I Invented Sex” is major as it becomes his second highest charting single, matching 2007s “Can’t Help But Wait”. In related news, Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind”‘ retains its spot atop the Billboard Hot 100.
