JLS not only tops this week’s UK Albums chart, the foursome snagged the title from legendary artist Robbie Williams. According to the Official Charts Company, JLS’ debut album moved well over 200,000 copies in its first week, besting Williams. Excited about the success of the album, JLS issued a statement through the Official Charts Company Sunday. “It is absolutely unbelievable that we have reached the number one spot on the album chart this weekend after such an incredible race with the pop icon that is Robbie Williams. We are so overwhelmed by the support of the people that have purchased our album and canât thank them enough for making our dreams come true. We truly have the best supporters in the world and canât express our gratitude enoughâ.” While the success of the X Factor group’s debut is defining, OFC sources say Williams’ new album is his best debut in some time. “JLS and Robbie were neck and neck in the end, scoring the two biggest week one totals of the year,” said Martin Talbot of the Official Charts Company. “So while JLS will be rightly delighted with their first number one, Robbie should be too with his biggest opening week sale for four years,” he added. Sources say JLS sold a total of 239,644 whereas Robbie Williams moved 238,125 copies of his latest album. Just last week JLS hit number one with their second single “Everybody In Love”. The foursome also return to the stage they once called home on the X Factor.
