Shon Penn, known to many as one of a number of leading talents on MTV’s Making the Band 4, which produced Day 26, is moving forward by not only working on his own solo debut but is also aiding aspiring musical talent. “No matter how far I go in this game, Iâll always reach back and encourage those I touch to do the same,” says Penn, who has taken skills learned while interning at Bad Boy and Jive Records in addition to studios like Daddy’s House and Battery Studios to the mentoring table. While some might say Penn is a youngster, the talented man of many talents has studied his craft and believes all aspiring talent should do the same. “I tell them donât just show up at the studio to record. Study the technical aspects of recording. Learn to use Logic and Pro-tools! Show producers that you have value beyond your voice.” In addition to extending his hand, Shon Penn is busy touring this fall with R. Kelly. Appearing with Pleasure P, on select dates, Penn is also working on his solo debut with a number of producers — due for release in 2010. c: Zoe Grey
